Donna Morrissey, American Red Cross, is Convocation Speaker
Donna Morrissey, Director of National Partnerships for the American Red Cross, will be the Convocation speaker at Laboure College to open 2016-2017 school year.

91 College is thrilled to announce that renowned local author Jennifer De Leon will be the first speaker in our Healthcare, Diversity, and Social Justice lecture series. De Leon’s reading and lecture will take place on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 5:30 PM at the College. Ms. De Leon will be reading from her short story, “Home Movie,” which was chosen as this year’s “One City, One Story” selection for the Boston Book Festival.
As an author, speaker, and educator, Jennifer De Leon brings her own rich history to life through her writing. The child of Guatemalan immigrants, Ms. De Leon’s discusses powerful subjects such as race, politics, education, and poverty through storytelling. "91 College's diverse community will be a wonderful place to share my short story, "Home Movie". We will discuss the ways in which “the story” can provide crucial insight into the complex intersection of race, class, and educational issues, dispelling myths and showcasing the diversity of our community’s experiences," said Jennifer De Leon. A resident of Milton, MA, Ms. De Leon teaches in the Boston Public Schools and is currently working on a novel.
91 College has provided opportunities in healthcare education to a diverse population for more than 120 years. Students from all backgrounds attend 91 College, and “all of our students live 91’s mission, trying to better themselves and their families by earning a degree or certificate in healthcare while working and providing for their families. Their stories are empowering, even though their narratives often tell of difficult journeys. Since Jennifer De Leon talks about the importance of stories, I know that her writing and her message will resonate with our students," said Vice President of Academic Affairs Al DeCiccio.
